The benefits of diagnosis
Non-pharmacological interventions are a humane way of treating people with dementia and have the potential to address many areas in which there are management difficulties in DLB.[1]
Patients require a general set of care giving skills, as well as tailoring of care to the
patient's
particular need, carer givers' abilities and their environment.[1]
"Accurate diagnosis is imperative to avoid increased morbidity and mortality from
inappropriate use of neuroleptic agents and to ensure that they are not denied access
to cholinesterase inhibitors and other interventions that might be beneficial".[1]
