Case study 4
Examination findings
- The patient exhibited reduced blinking.
- Her frontal reflexes were negative.
- She had a rest tremor in both arms/hands which was greater on the right than the left, but of similar frequency.
- She also showed postural and action tremor of the hands and arms of 8Hz which again was greater on the right than the left.
- She exhibited a stooped posture and had a slight decrease in arm swing when walking which was more marked on the right than the left.
- She had right wrist rigidity when activated.
- She recovered on the pull test.
- The symptoms were mild but generally suggestive of
Parkinson’s disease, but due to some confounding features
a scan using DaTSCAN was performed.
